we exist as a piece of string.
winding cords of discontent, stretching far as we can go, only to reach our last hope
we are the whispers of old memories
climbing trees, grazing knees, little scars.
we are butterflies
lost in the wind, afraid to fall, barely going anywhere at all
we exist as a piece of string
i'll teach you if you teach me
the truth in all your secrecy
the peace in all your trickery
these strings attached to me.
binding me to misery
you planned to grow old with me
you planned to wake up
laying right beside me
you planned.
carefully crafting these cords
easily broken
easily cut
hardly forgotten
never, fully free..

"A human being is a part of a whole. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty"
-Albert Einstein
