"what is it?" she asks shyly, looking at him with those curious eyes.
"same thing as always", he says softly & she smiles- the kind of smile that could light up the world. A real smile. The smile that he made for her. He is staring at her with the warmth of a thousand summer suns and she is happy. Driving in that bright red truck, driving to nowhere in particular except for everywhere. The road is rough, but we're much stronger. Holding on to dear life. Holding on to him who's holding on to her.
"don't forget to lock the door" he says as she walks away to where she came from. She glances back, one too many times, until he's gone. Dust down the road. She knows what it tastes like to say goodbye but she convinces herself that she'll see him tomorrow. So she is happy. The world keeps on spinning, heaven gets closer and closer, and then she sees him again. There is laughter in her eyes as he hops out of the truck and sweeps her off her feet. Balance is restored to her conflicted countenance, the universe is beautiful again. He reaches for her heart, and instead, touches her soul. His delicate hands wrapped firm and protective around her fragile body. She is safe. Then he reaches for her face and time stops. His fingers pressed softly against her bare skin, her heart beats faster and faster until they kiss. All the beauty in the world stops and stares at what they have just created. Unspoken and divine. A spectacle of extraordinary passion, not any ordinary sensation of human touch, but a phenomenon. But it is only for a moment, and time passes. leaving them speechless and very much alive.
There always comes a time, when there are no words left to say that which would completely explain the memories of a world once remembered. So she watches him leave one last time. The dust of the road they traveled stinging in her eyes, and she cries. But she is happy. And the world keeps on spinning as her love for him slowly dies.
And now all that's left is the memories.
All that's left. Of him, of her. And he is happy... as she once was.
"same thing as always my love"
"what is it?" she asks, afraid this time. looking at him with very different eyes.
But before he answers, darkness folds on top of them and his lies are left to burn with her pride. Dust in the wind.
Burning in a box, all that's left of what she had.
Burning in a box, all the times he made her cry.
Burning in a box, all the times he said hello,
and all the times he said goodbye.
Just one last time.
Fading away as quickly as it came,
And the world keeps spinning just the same.
All that's left
burning in a box...
ashes in your eyes.
one, last, tear...
one, last, word
goodbye.

"A human being is a part of a whole. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty"
-Albert Einstein
